Fallout 4 is an action role-playing video game released in 2015 by Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks. It is the fourth main installment in the Fallout series and was released worldwide for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One on November 10, 2015.
The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic open world environment that encompasses Boston and the surrounding Massachusetts region known as “The Commonwealth” As the bridge out of Sanctuary Hills, it utilizes a number of local landmarks, including Bunker Hill, Fort Independence, and Old North Bridge near Concord.
The main story begins in 2287, ten years after the events of Fallout 3 and 210 years after “The Great War” which caused catastrophic nuclear devastation throughout the United States.
The player controls a character known as the “Sole Survivor” who awakens from a long-term cryogenic stasis in Vault 111, an underground nuclear fallout shelter.
The Sole Survivor searches the Commonwealth for their kidnapped child after witnessing the murder of their spouse and the abduction of their son.
The player explores the game’s deteriorating world, completes various quests, aids factions, and earns experience points to increase their character’s level and abilities.
New additions to the series include the ability to construct and manage settlements, as well as a robust crafting system in which materials gathered from the environment can be used to create drugs and explosives, upgrade weapons and armor, and build, furnish, and improve settlements.
Fallout 4 is also the first game in the series to feature the protagonist’s full voice acting.
Many critics praised Fallout 4’s world depth, player freedom, overall amount of content, crafting, and musical score. The majority of criticism was directed at the game’s plot and technical issues.
The game was a commercial and critical success, generating $750 million in its first 24 hours of release and receiving numerous accolades from various gaming publications and award ceremonies, including the Game of the Year and Best Game awards at the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences and British Academy Games Awards, respectively. Bethesda has released six pieces of downloadable content, including the Far Harbor and Nuka-World expansions.
To launch the game in full screen mode, select Options from the Fallout 4 Launcher and uncheck Windowed Mode and Borderless. Fallout 4 cannot be toggled into full screen mode after launch.
This menu also allows you to set the Aspect Ratio, Resolution, and other options based on system-provided data.
If you are unable to save these options, it may be due to the settings of your graphics card or a mod that overrides them. Check your GPU settings for Fallout 4, and if that does not work, try uninstalling your mods.
