The Harry Potter series is filled with intriguing adversaries. From Bellatrix Lestrange’s insane antics to Dolores Umbridge’s extremely disagreeable presence, there are a multitude of characters who fans adore to despise. Nevertheless, none are quite as linked with evil as Lord Voldemort’s.
The existence of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named is not overstated in the franchise, as practically every problem Harry faces in the series is either directly or indirectly caused by him.
Voldemort’s appearance as an unstoppable force in the seventh and final Harry Potter instalment is likely not surprising. In a sense, he is. Fans learn during the course of the series that Voldemort found a means to essentially immortalise himself. And he did it by making six Horcruxes, artefacts imbued with a portion of their creator’s soul so that, if they are ever destroyed, they can resurrect themselves. When Harry discovers these Horcruxes, he, Ron, and Hermione spend the remainder of the novel searching for and destroying them across Great Britain.

Lord Voldemort destroyed this Horcrux himself. Harry, upon learning that the curse was tied to him, met Voldemort in the woods and allowed him to cast the deadly spell on him. This resulted in the destruction of the Horcrux and offered Harry the opportunity to return to the physical world, which he accepted.
