List of Highlands in Nigeria

List of Highlands in Nigeria – Highlands, sometimes known as uplands, are high-altitude regions with mountains, elevated mountain plateaus, or tall hills. In general, upland (or uplands) refers to ranges of hills, often from 300 m (980 ft) up to 500–600 m (1,600–2,000 ft), while highland (or highlands) is typically used to refer to ranges of low mountains. The two names, however, are occasionally used synonymously.

The Scottish Highlands, a mountainous territory north and west of the Highland Boundary Fault, are likely the most well-known region in the Anglosphere officially or informally referred to as a highland. Britain’s largest local government area is the Highland council area, which is located in the Scottish Highlands. The Southern Uplands in Scotland, the Pennines, North York Moors, Dartmoor and Exmoor in England, and the Cambrian Mountains in Wales are some other highland or upland regions in the United Kingdom that reach 400-500 m or higher.

Highlands are a term used to describe locations in many nations and regions. Parts of Afghanistan, Tibet, Ethiopia, Canada, Kenya, Eritrea, Yemen, Ghana, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Syria, Turkey, and Cantabria are among them.

Nigeria features highlands or uplands in almost every state. Hills, mountains, and plateaus can all be found in the highlands. Mountains there range in height from 500 to 600 metres (1,600–2,000 ft). It shows either the surrounding countryside or a group of low mountain ranges above sea level.

Nigeria’s south is the most intriguing region to visit despite having more plains than hills.
