List of MSMEs in Nigeria

Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises are all referred to by the acronym MSME. They are many different definitions of MSME, but in the Nigerian context, there are businesses with a workforce of 1 to 200, total assets between NGN 5,000,000 and NGN 500,000,000, and annual revenue between NGN 20,000,000 and NGN 500,000,000. Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) make up more than 90% of all firms in Nigeria and contribute roughly 50% of the country’s GDP. The role that micro, small, and medium-sized businesses play in the socioeconomic expansion of the economy has many advantages.
The MSME Development Fund was established by the CBN on August 15, 2013, with a share capital of N220 billion. The Fund was created in acknowledgment of the MSME sector’s (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) considerable economic contributions and the enormous financing shortfall that still exists.
A total of ten (10) percent of the Fund has been set aside for developmental goals like grants, capacity building, and administrative costs, while the remaining ninety (90) percent of the commercial component will be released to participating financial institutions (PFIs) at a rate of 2% for on-lending to MSMEs at an interest rate of no more than 9% per year.
Agricultural value chains, services, cottage industries, craftsmen, trade and commerce, as well as any other income-generating ventures as may be outlined from time to time by the CBN, are all eligible activities that can get funding.

Most economies, especially those in emerging nations, depend heavily on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs). SMEs make up the bulk of enterprises globally and are significant drivers of job growth and global economic development. Over 50% of all jobs are held by them, and they account for nearly 90% of all firms. In emerging economies, formal SMEs account for up to 40% of the GDP. Inclusion of informal SMEs raises these figures significantly.
Our projections show that 600 million new employment would be required by 2030 to accommodate the expanding global workforce, making the development of SME an important worldwide policy objective. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for seven out of ten jobs created in emerging markets.
The second most frequently stated barrier to SMEs expanding their operations in emerging markets and developing nations is access to capital, which is a major restraint on their ability to do so.
SMEs rely on internal finances or money from friends and family to start and run their businesses in the beginning because they are less likely than large companies to be able to get bank loans. IFC estimates that 65 million businesses, or 40% of formal micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in developing countries, have an annual unmet financing need of $5.2 trillion, which is equal to 1.4 times the amount of global MSME lending at present.
Following Latin America and the Caribbean (23%) and Europe and Central Asia (15%), East Asia and the Pacific (46%) makes up the majority of the global finance imbalance. Region to region, the gap volume varies significantly. With percentages of 87% and 88%, respectively, the financial gap between actual demand and potential demand is greatest in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and North Africa. The majority of legally recognised SMEs lack formal credit. When micro and informal businesses are considered, the financial gap is considerably wider.
